Fanmail [lyric]

In my years working as a graphic designer I used to get all these emails with great reactions about the websites, banners and flyers I was creating. Reading through all these emails was great and it made me remember all the things I worked on in all these years.
I once put all these emails into a pdf and printed it for a rainy day.

A few years ago I decided that that might be a cool topic for a lyric.

There is one line at the end I am not sure about. I am from the Netherlands so English isn’t my first language, so I often write sentences where I’m not sure if that’s how people would say it in the U.S. or U.K.

So lots of room for improvement …

FANMAIL

Found the bed on the wrong side
this morning, when I left my room
I must surely dodge the doom and gloom
that this day brought on way too soon

Sometimes, I feel like a package
that’s best handled with care
Wearing my ‘no can do’ shirt
Refusing any questionnaire

This day wrapped in double bubble wrap
straight off a cliff, when you feel like crap

I need some fan mail
Pages filled with compliments
Take them in like supplements
My mood goes off the scale

I need some fan mail
Every phrase you ever got
Pouring joy into your being
My day goes off the scale

They said: be like a postage stamp
Stick like the magnet on your fridge
Stick up for who you truly are
Let nothing in this world discourage

I need some fan mail
Pages filled with compliments
Take them in like supplements
My mood goes off the scale

When life was amazing,
they’d sent me cards and mail
Golden sparkles from the envelope
A thousand praises as their tale

Tied them up into an archive
So that applause, I could not forget
Put it away for a rainy day,
folded sunshine for me on display

I need some fan mail
Pouring joy into my being
Piles of pleasure guaranteeing
Paragraphs to inhale

I need some fan mail
Every phrase you ever got
Pouring joy into your being
Every sentence you received
Depths of pleasure guaranteeing
Your day goes off the scale

Cause when in this life,
a meetup is just a thumbs-up on your phone
There must be more the courier brings me
In transit package, lighting up your soul

This throw-away-day in double bubble wrap
straight off a cliff, when you feel like crap
